Sitting alongside each other in a grassy meadow surrounded by mature trees, these four shepherds’ huts (refs UKC685, UKC686, UKC687 and UKC688) have a fantastic ‘back-to-nature’ appeal, and are just as suited for groups of friends and family as they are for couples looking for a romantic getaway in a beautiful setting. With a wood burner as well as a heater, these properties make an ideal, year-round base for an adventure. Set within three acres of grounds in the heart of the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the backdrop is utterly magical – Thomas Hardy country at its finest.
Situated on the distinguished Lancombe Country Cottages site, holidaymakers have access to the excellent on-site facilities, which include use of an indoor heated swimming pool, sauna, a well-equipped games room and a spa room offering a range of massage and beauty treatments (at additional cost). Unwind in the 3 acres of grounds, or on a fine day, chill out with a barbecue in a pleasant setting, overlooking the tranquil Dorset countryside.
When you’re ready to begin exploring the area, Chesil Beach should be the first port of call. It’s a shingle beach situated on the Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site, and there’s also Weymouth and the picturesque seaside resort of Lyme Regis nearby, with its harbour and world-famous Cobb. Enjoy the many little seaside resorts, spectacular scenic coastal walks, fishing, swimming or fossil hunting, and attractions in the vicinity such as Abbotsbury’s Swannery or Subtropical Gardens.
There are many historic houses and gardens to visit nearby, including Athelhampton House and Gardens and Kingston Maurward Gardens and Animal Park, as well as a number of family attractions such as The Tank Museum in Bovington, the Fleet Air Arm museum in Yeovilton, Monkey World Ape Rescue Centre in Wareham and Weymouth’s Sea Life Adventure Park.
Just 8 miles away, the bustling market and county town of Dorchester has a broad range of 18th-century houses, shops, restaurants and a market that’s well worth a visit, and Weymouth features a Georgian seafront, sandy beach and traditional seaside entertainment. Inland, there is the famous hill figure Cerne Abbas Giant and the historic market town of Sherborne, with its abbey that dates back to the early 8th century. Enjoy golf, fishing, horse riding and go-karting locally. There’s a convenience store on-site. Beach 14 miles. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles.
